Jak zjistit proč server padá?

  1. Orfeus Hodnocení: 12 (100%) Orfeus je na dobré cestě

    Mám VPS u Wedosu a fungovalo cca rok dobře, nicméně teď tak 1x za den až 1x za dva dny spadne.
    (SSH se neodezývá, KVM se zapne ale vidim jen prázdnou konzoli, apache nebezi, MYSQL nebezi).

    Po restartu vse hned naskoci a jede dál.

    V /var/log/apache/errorlog jsou sice errory, ale vetsina jen nejaky favico atd. takze nic zajmavyho.

    Podle HTOP je RAM i procesor ok, nevyuziva se vic nez 3/4 ani ve spicce, navic to na tom serveru bezelo rok OK.

    Jak zjistim proc to padá?

    zkus nainstalovat munin a kouknout se na statistiky grafu. v případě povolit serverinfo a každou minutu ho logovat a po zasekání se kouknout jesli tam nebude něco divného. případně zkontrolovat ps aux | grep apache -c jestli se nezasekávají procesy apache. nebo možná někdo na vps utočí slowflorixem.

  4. Koukl bych se i do /var/log/messages ... tam taky může být občas napsáno, proč se ti služby sesypaly. Není ani od věci kouknout na ram a wait příkazem top.

    Jak jsem říkal, HTOP (TOP) ukazuje zabranou cca pulku ramek v dobé kdy to běží, v době kdy je to down se tam nedostanu abych se podíval.

  7. Pusťte si jednoduché ukládání vytížení serveru do souboru a až to spadne, tak sem postněte posledních 10 řádků. Asi Vám dochází paměť nebo něco podobného - ve /var/log/syslog by o tom měly být záznamy.

  10. Konec souboru se mi nepodařilo celý zrekonstruovat, ale dělo se přibližně toto:

    Na serveru se spustilo větší množství procesů, začal swapovat jak o život, server se s tím snažil ukočováním procesů srovnat, ale spouštěly se další, tak došla paměť a pak to celé zmrzlo.

    Zkuste se podívat do logu Apache, jestli tam v tu dobu nebyl nějaký podezřelé čilý provoz.

    S koncem jsem nic nedělal, zřejmně jak byl server zatížen tak to samo od sebe ukládalo takhle.

    Konečně jsem se dostal do KVM (načetlo se to asi po pul hodině samo od sebe).
    Vypadá to, že skutečně došla RAM, nechal jsem si od wedosu navýšit tarif na dvojnásobek, snad to bude stačit.
    Přece jen už na tom serveru toho běželo asi moc :D

  15. Navýšení paměti není úplně ten správný lék, který by odstraňoval příčinu. Určitě to potřebovalo navýšení o 512 MB RAM, ale před vytuhnutím se během dvou minut skokově spustilo cca 100 procesů a zaplnil ten 512 MB swap. To není úplně normální provozní stav a chtělo by to zanalyzovat co se asi tak mohlo stát.

    Neznám konkrétní situaci, ale možná by pomohlo omezit počet procesů Apache nebo změnit PHP z modulu na FastCGI nebo PHP-FPM s akcelerátorem, které se snadno omezují.

  18. Všechno je to spojitá nádoba.

    hodně HTTP požadavků -> neoptimalitzovaná aplikace -> hodně spojení na databázi -> hodně běžících procesů (httpd a mysqld)

    Mělo by se začít na začátku a ptát se: proč je najednou na webu takový provoz a z jakých IP adres?, ukončují se včas všechna spojení?, lze snížit počet volání PHP skriptů (kešování)?, jde snížit počet dotazů do DB?, lze optimalizovat dotazy do databáze? atd... Všechno je to o určení příčiny, odstranění nežádoucího provozu a optimalizaci.
